Education Example: Articulation Practice Sheet

Articulation Practice Sheet See an example of how the Livescribe Pulse smartpen can be used to create a dynamic student Articulation Practice Sheet. In this examples, the speech therapist has created articulation practice sheet. The student can record his/her practice session directly on the dot paper so the therapist can document the students progress. Each target word is recorded on the paper for the student to reference as many times as needed.

Education Example: Running Record/Fluency Test

Education Example: Running Record/Fluency (Print post) In this example, the diagnostician printed the fluency passage onto dot paper so that the students actual reading of the passage could be captured. Using this method of capture, not only do you provide a means of checking accuracy of response, but also you also can allow the student to participate in self monitoring of reading fluency. You are also able to archive the reading to maintain a record of the students progress.

Education Example: Music Lesson Composers Example

Paper-based, multi-media allows us to record sounds and music directly to the Livescribe dot paper. Many music therapists are recording directly into their Livescribe notebooks and carrying the Pulse smartpen and notebook into therapy sessions rather than sound equipment. In this example, the teacher has recorded classical music pieces for the student to listen to and then identify the correct composer.

Education Example: Talking Word Wall

Many students need help in remembering the words on the word wall and many of those students need audio reinforcement of the word multiple times. In this example, the teacher records the words using the dot paper and the smartpen, then cuts out the dots and attaches them to the words on the word wall. The smartpen is attached to the bulletin board and the student can use the pen to touch the audio dot to get help with the word

Education Example: Oral Book Report

Using the printable dot paper function in the Livescribe desktop application, an educator at the Runanga School in New Zealand was able to print the dot paper pattern on to blank labels to create audio labels, which can be attached to virtually anything. Here is an example of an oral book review students attach an audio label in books they have read with a review of the book, what they thought about it, what they liked/disliked about the book.

Education Example: Collaborative Rainforest

An educator sent us an example of how he is using the Livescribe Pulse smartpen in his classroom to creative a collaborative oral project showcasing the sights and sounds of the rainforest. Each student was in charge of researching one of the rainforest elements and recording the information as an oral report.

Education Example: Talking Test – TAKS Practice Test

There are times when a childs IEP will call for all test questions and possible responses to be read to the child. The IEP may also call for the student to be allowed the accommodation of responding verbally to the questions. It is a time consuming task for the teacher to have to sit with each child and individually read each question and possible response. By printing the test questions on dot enabled paper, the teacher is able to record the question and responses one time, and then use the same sheet numerous times with different students. If the child needs to make a verbal response, he/she can tap record on a blank Pulse notebook page and verbally give their response.

Education Example: Substitute Teacher Audio Lesson Plan

It is often difficult for the teacher to leave written detailed notes for the substitute teacher. In this example, the teacher makes basic notes in the dot-enabled lesson planner and then leaves more detailed verbal notes for the sub.
